Minting Selfies As NFT
App Demo
Challenge - Keeping it simple
The challenge with any NFT-related app is a limited understanding of the NFTs in the general public.
Most attendees might be uncomfortable using non-custodial wallets like Metamask/similar.
We didn’t want to overwhelm the attendees with much new jargon and steps to mint their 1st NFT, forex.
Creating a crypto wallet, storing seed-phrase securely, and all the security chaos.
To buy MATIC from Binance/Similar to mint your 1st NFT for gas fees.
Install, and know how to use Metamask on a smartphone and understand wallet signatures and transactions.
It’s nearly impossible for Web3 1st timers to do correctly in the mad rush of an event, networking, sessions and whatnot. Thus, we decided to make it a super simple and 3 step process to mint their NFT, and here are our prime goals:
Zero knowledge of Crypto or NFT needed to mint the 1st NFT
No wallet creation is required. The email should be the wallet.
No Crypto purchase is necessary. We sponsored and covered the gas and other expenses.
Show a QR code to launch a mobile 1st web app, and let users mint a NFT in 3 taps.
Technicals
Sustainability: We kept Sustainability in mind and avoided any POW(Proof of Work) blockchain. Thus the solution is minting NFTs on L2 Blockchain “Polygon.”
Dynamic Images: Typically, the images in NFTs are static. In this app, the camera photos are minted after embedding them into the event’s tailor-made photo frame.
A Custodial Wallet is created based on email via crossmint.com. Attendees can check and move their NFTs by signing up for a free account on Crossmint.
Future
We are excited to build more on the Salesforce Web3 Cloud. Our team is quite comfortable with the Web3 stack and technicals like coding Smart-contracts and required tech-heavy stuff. We see a bright opportunity to extend what Salesforce has offered in Web3 Cloud and build more extension packages and solutions on top of it.
More on this to be announced and shared soon. We are researching with our COE some interesting ideas internally.
Note of Thanks
We are excited that the “Salesforce Architect Summit” team was equally pumped and supportive to work with us in piloting this app at their event. This is just a start, and we got a few inquiries from other Salesforce group leaders to have the solution at their events as well. We are excited to see what more we can do with this idea :)
