Salesforce introduced Sustainability Cloud Scope 3 Hub

Salesforce has simplified the previously complicated and lengthy process of calculating the amount of carbon emissions. The Salesforce Sustainability Cloud Scope 3 Hub has just been launched! Which is a new platform built for helping companies of any size and any industry to streamline how they track and measure supply chain carbon emissions. It will assist businesses to input data on supply chain emissions which can then be used for better understanding how decarbonization can be obtained in a company very smoothly. All while saving money with decreased administrative costs of managing several spreadsheets.

  • Driving Climate Action: Salesforce Sustainability Cloud Scope 3 Hub for Sustainable Business

In order for a business to create a meaningful climate strategy, it is crucial to carefully consider and account for every emission in its carbon emissions portfolio. To effectively develop a reduction strategy, data must be transparent and accurate, ensuring that the right measures are taken to address the issue.

Salesforce Sustainability Cloud captures and visualizes Scope 3 emissions, which include indirect emissions from a company's value chain, in the same platform that calculates Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Scope 1 emissions are the direct emissions from a company's owned assets, while Scope 2 emissions are associated with the purchase of electricity for a company's own use. This integration provides a single, reliable source of truth for all of a company's emissions data, streamlining the tracking and reporting process.

As stated by Kevin Vranes, Director of Product Management at Salesforce, there has been a notable shift in the conversation around emissions tracking, with increasing recognition of the significance of Scope 3 emissions, particularly in transportation and logistics. Over the past 12 months, some companies have started to realize the importance of tracking and reducing Scope 3 emissions, as they often constitute a significant portion of a company's carbon footprint.
