Salesforce Summer ‘24 release is now live, packed with innovative no-code features designed to empower admins in their day-to-day work. From new apps to new features, a lot has changed for admins, of course for the better!

In this blog, we bring you the 10 hottest Summer ‘24 Salesforce release features so you can explore the full scope of enhancements and discover what's coming to your Salesforce instance. By applying these updates, either independently or through a Salesforce Administrator, you can be certain that your Salesforce experience will be greatly enhanced.

1. New Automation Lightning App

One standout feature in the Summer 24 Salesforce release is the new Automation Lightning App, which simplifies automation management by providing users with a centralized view of flows, error logs, and community resources. This update eliminates the hassle of navigating the setup menu, making automation more accessible and straightforward.

Where: This change applies to all users (Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic) in these Salesforce editions: Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer.

How: In the "Applications" tab, enter "Automation" in the "Search applications" box to locate the Automation app. If it doesn't appear, go to Setup, then navigate to Process Automation Settings, and ensure the "Enabled Automation Lightning App" option is selected.

2. Einstein for Flow

Automating your tasks just got easier with ‘Einstein for Flow’. Now simply describe your expected outcome, and Einstein will generate a draft flow to streamline your process.

Imagine telling your software: "Send a welcome email with a discount code to new customers."  Einstein for Flow could then automatically create the code for a workflow that does exactly that.

Where: This feature is accessible in Lightning Experience for the following:

  • All Einstein 1 Editions.

  • Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Einstein 1 Editions with the Einstein for Sales, Einstein for Service, or Einstein for Platform add-on.

  • Einstein generative AI is available in the Lightning Experience.

When: Einstein for Flow (Beta) will be available later this summer.

How: Enable Einstein generative AI in your Setup to activate Einstein for Flow. Then, navigate to Setup, find Einstein for Flow (Beta), and turn it on. To use Einstein for Flow, go to the Flows section in Setup and click "New Flow" or click "New" in the Automation Lightning app.

Choose "Let Einstein Help You Build (1)," and then click "Next."

Once your draft flow opens in Flow Builder, verify its accuracy and safety. Debug and test the flow before activating it. To improve future flows from Einstein, provide feedback by hovering over the Einstein message and selecting the thumbs up or thumbs down icon (4). If the flow isn't satisfactory, start over in a new window (5).

  3. Einstein for Formulas

Einstein for formulas! It can now explain existing formulas and help fix their mistakes.

Before, the syntax checker would point out errors, but leave you hanging on how to solve them. Now, Einstein can help you with a "fixed formula" suggestion, saving the day!

The new Formula Assistant in Lightning Experience (higher editions) uses generative AI to help you with complex formulas. Just click "Use Formula Assistant" and let Einstein assist you!

Where: This update applies to Lightning Experience in the Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions. Einstein generative AI is also available in the Lightning Experience.

Why: The formula syntax checker can identify syntax errors but does not offer solutions. Einstein for Formulas resolves this by providing a corrected formula that you can use in the Formula Editor.

How: To correct a syntax error in a formula, click "Use Formula Assistant" in the Formula Editor, and Einstein will suggest a fixed formula for you.

4. Add New Custom Fields to Dynamic Forms-Enabled Pages

Adding custom fields to Dynamic Forms got easier! Here’s what changed in the Summer 24 Salesforce release for admins:

  • Dynamic Forms for Standard Objects: You can now add dynamic forms to Salesforce's standard objects (like accounts, contacts, etc.), not just custom ones. This opens up more customization possibilities.

  • Customized User Experience: You can use component visibility rules to control which parts of a page layout are shown to different users to create a customized user experience.

  • Improved Functionality without Coding: Dynamic Actions let you enhance a page's functionality without having to write a lot of complicated code.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

How: In Setup, create a custom field as usual. After configuring field-level security, you'll encounter a new step where you can select the Lightning record pages to which you want to add the field.

5. Use Blank Spaces to Align Fields on Pages with Dynamic Forms

The Blank Space component is yet another feature added to the Summer 24 summer Salesforce release. This lets you add vertical spacing between fields and, when combined with the "Align fields horizontally" property.

While this change might seem small, it can make a HUGE difference in how your page looks!

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

How: Consider these two versions of the same field section, both containing account fields with a blank space below the Phone field. In the left image, without "Align fields horizontally" selected, the blank space has a single-row height. In the right image, with horizontal alignment enabled, the Website field remains horizontally aligned with the Parent Account instead of collapsing upward. The blank space height now matches the row height of its neighbor, Billing Address.

6. Set Conditional Visibility for Individual Tabs in Lightning App Builder

In a stride toward more personalized and dynamic user interfaces, Salesforce has provided admins with the ability to set conditional visibility for individual tabs in the Lightning App Builder.

This feature, part of the ongoing Salesforce admin updates, allows admins to tailor the visibility of tabs based on specific conditions, enhancing the functionality and user experience of Salesforce applications.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, Pro Suite, and Developer editions.

How: For a complete list of LWC-enabled objects, see LWC Migration for Record Home Pages.

7. Create Rich Text Headings in Lightning App Builder

You can now give your text styles, like "Heading 1" or "Heading 2" using a new dropdown menu. Bonus: This also makes your page more accessible for screen reader users! (Available in most Lightning Experience editions.)

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

How: Open your page in the builder, select a rich text block, highlight your text, and choose the style from the dropdown menu.

8. See Fields in Compact Density When Configuring a Lightning Record Page

The Lightning App Builder's Compact Density setting now allows you to preview pages that support dynamic forms. Previously, the Lightning App Builder was used to preview pages without considering compact density.

Salesforce offers two display densities that can improve navigation:

  • Comfy: A spacious view that takes up more space, with labels on the top of fields and increased space between page elements.

  • Compact: a denser view with labels to the left of the fields and less space between page elements.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience in Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

9. Monitor NetZero Cloud Changes with Field History Tracking

The field history tracking feature allows Net Zero Cloud users to track changes in important data fields related to sustainability and emissions.  Admins can now find a Field History Tracking page in Setup they can control both the tracked objects as well as the fields.

What’s more? You can now easily see the number of tracked fields right from the get-go before you decide to make any changes.

Where: This change affects the Salesforce app in Contact Manager, Essentials, Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Developer, and Database.com editions, as well as in Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic (though not available in all organizations). Note that standard objects aren’t available on Database.com.

Who: This feature is available for customers with New Zero Cloud enabled.

How: In Setup, type "Field History Tracking" into the Quick Find box and select it. To enable tracking on an object, click "View," select the fields you want to monitor, and then click "OK."

10. Organize and Find Records Easily with Personal Labels

Effective record organization can streamline your work and save hours of work every day for your reps. Whether you're managing leads, opportunities, or tasks, finding the right information quickly can make or break your productivity.

This is where labels come in - they're your personalized system for easily organizing and retrieving records. Now you can create custom labels, tailored to your specific needs, and apply them to records across various objects.

Where: This modification affects the Lightning Experience in the Enterprise, Professional, and Unlimited editions with Sales Cloud.

Why: Adding labels to records allows users to easily view a list of their created labels and all records associated with a particular label. Each user can create and manage their own set of labels.

Labels can be added to records on these objects.

  • Account

  • Cadence

  • Cadence Step Tracker

  • Call Script

  • Campaign

  • Contact

  • Case

  • Email Template

  • Lead

  • Opportunity

  • Orchestration Work Item

  • Task

Personal labels added to records are separate from Topics, which other users can see.
