December 16: Sign up for a pre-release environment

A pre-release org is a great place that comes with new release features enabled which provide you plenty of time to test & figure out which ones are right for your company. You can still log into your pre-release org for Winter ’22 if you already have one!

And, If you are unsure about what features you want to implement, you must join the Trailblazer Community Treasure Hunt to see what other customers are excited and passionate about, which might give some insight into the features YOU want!

December 22: Preview Release Notes are available

Salesforce Help is now the new home for the release notes with an improved user experience. It's time to scan the release notes. With Filters, you can see only the sections that are relevant to the edition and clouds you are using.

January 6: Sandbox cut-off date

Use your sandbox to get early access to new features and test your configurations before the scheduled production upgrade. In order to obtain the Spring '22 preview on your sandbox environment, it is necessary to have an active sandbox on a preview instance prior to January 6th, 2021. For further details, please refer to the 'Salesforce Sandbox Preview Instructions' blog.

January 7 and 8: Sandboxes upgraded

If you’ve decided to take advantage of sandbox preview, your chosen sandboxes are upgraded to Spring ’22 this weekend. Like the pre-release program, allows you to test new features without impacting your live environment. However, One of the advantages of using the sandbox preview is that it allows you to test new features using a setup that mirrors your production environment.

January 7: Spring ’22 Release site is live

The release site is now live. Salesforce knows that not everyone digests release information in the same way so, here comes the Release Highlights module on Trailhead with a quick and easy way to learn about features with demo videos, Trailhead modules, community forums, and more to make the process as easy as possible.

January 14: First release weekend

During the first release weekend, Salesforce and a limited number of clients are upgraded. It is possible that your important features have already been preserved by this point. If you are prepared for the upgrade, the Release Readiness Trailblazers group can provide you with the necessary resources to educate your organization's users about the new features that you plan to introduce.
