Salesforce Marketing Cloud Jan'21 Release Notes | Security and Automation Studio
Automation Studio
BYOK for File Transfer Decryption Activities
First, let’s kick things off with information about the security and automation studio, so we're going to be talking about ‘bringing your own key’ for file decryption activities from automation studio. Security-conscious customers have often requested the ability to use their own strong cipher keys for file description when importing files into the marketing cloud. Automation file transfer activities can now be configured to decrypt a file from a marketing cloud FTP site using a customer-specified RSA key.
The activity will save the decrypted content to a safe house location to prepare import into the data extension. And, again security-conscious customers want to have complete control over the lifecycle management of encryption keys in order to control access to their data. Marketing Cloud ‘Bring Your Own Key’ is a new capability for this purpose for the customers who have dedicated data, environment, and encryption at rest, dedicated database in their marketing cloud messaging in journey environment. You can now bring your own encryption keys to the marketing cloud by generating a key in your own trusted environment and importing it into the marketing cloud with ‘Bring Your Own Key’. From this, you can now manage the lifecycle of your keys and rotate keys self-service based on the frequency of your own security deposit policy. You can revoke encryption keys to make data inaccessible in the event of suspicion or activity of a breach. This is like an ultimate control pretty much like a big red stop button because once revoked no one can access the customer data. Once you are content with your forensic analysis, you can restore the keys to regain access to the data. Additionally, with the 'Bring Your Own Key' feature, you can now monitor the status of your keys and review their transition history, giving you increased visibility and control.
The April’21 release for Salesforce Marketing Cloud will be rolled out between April 10th through April 17th, 2021. For more information, go to the full release notes on the Salesforce website here.
